March 2025

March 2025

Winter is typically a quieter time on the farm—but not this year. Alongside our usual seasonal tasks like soil fertilisation, tree pruning, and bottling our beloved olive oil, we’ve been hard at work preparing for the replanting of 1,200 new trees to replace those lost in last year’s fire. We’re also rebuilding the hangars that burned down, replacing damaged fences, and—most importantly—creating new firebreaks in the forests to ensure such devastation never happens again.

The reality is both sobering and undeniable: climate change is reshaping our environment, and wildfires are now a challenge we must proactively prepare for. Yet, amidst these difficulties, nature has given us a gift—gentle early spring rains throughout February and March, a rare blessing these days. These rains have awakened the olive trees, carpeting the orchards in lush young grass and a dazzling array of wildflowers. It’s a powerful reminder of nature’s immense resilience. The ancient oak trees that burned are sprouting new leaves, and the once-blackened soil is now bursting with vibrant green shoots.

For some, these small signs may seem insignificant. But to us, they affirm a simple yet profound truth: nature holds an overwhelming power of renewal. Our 20 years of organic olive farming have reinforced what we’ve always believed—nature thrives when left undisturbed and respected. Instead of trying to control it, we work in harmony with it, offering only gentle support when needed. When olive trees are free from chemical interference, they produce magnificent fruit on their own. And we remain steadfast in our commitment to farming without organic inputs—what’s good for the soil is also good for us all.

This philosophy has guided us for two decades. Fifteen years ago, we often had to defend our organic approach. Today, we see a growing community of like-minded people who appreciate and support our methods. We’ve welcomed more visitors eager to learn about our process, taste our olive oil, and share in our vision.

In this spirit, we’ve decided to expand our efforts in welcoming guests to Domaine Madrona, our neighboring sister property. Since 2017, we’ve been carefully restoring this stunning 13th-century farmhouse, and today, we invite you to experience the magic of the nature surrounding us. Over the years, guests have come to Madrona to soak in the beauty, the silence of the forests, and the joy of togetherness. Alongside our natural wellness retreats, we’re now offering writing retreats, walking retreats, and, starting in 2026, harvesting retreats.

Setbacks like last year’s wildfire are painful, even discouraging at times. But when the rains return, the sun reappears, and the orchards flourish once more, the rewards of years of dedication become abundantly clear. We feel deeply grateful for the support of our loyal customers, many of whom have been enjoying our olive oil for years. To all of you, a heartfelt thank you—your support makes everything we do possible.

With gratitude, The Querubi Team
